Grandma Sandy Catching Her First Smallmouth Bass

Grandpa Wayne Fighting and Loosing the Big One

The Beautiful Kankakee River

The Kankakee River is certainly a special place. It made Wayne what he is today--a fisheries biologist. We both have happy memories of our time around this river as we were growing up. It's still a special place for us.

Catching Turtles

The turtles were hungry and they enjoyed our worms. It was reminiscent our of Spring Break in Port Aransas when were kept catching crabs. Here's a photo of one of our turtles, the Common Map Turtle.

Grandma and Grandpa Fishing in the Kankakee River

Wayne and I had a nice time visiting in our home town. For the first time in my life (unbelievable) I went fishing in the Kankakee River. We both caught many fish, smallmouth bass, suckers, bluegills, rock bass, and a few turtles. Here are some photos and a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure. Guess who caught the Big Fish?

New Vegetation in the Garden

It was nice to be with my Mom, but it was great to be home again. I got busy and planted some flowers. This is a new species of plant that I got. I think it's related to the Rabbit Brush. Cute, huh?!!
